1. What is included in the price of the tour?

– The undivided attention of your expert native English speaking guide for the duration of the tour (it is a private walking tour, so only the people you book for will be on it).
– The cost of any private transport needed to the start of the walking tour from your accommodation, as part of our personal meeting service (however, in some cases when you are staying very close to the walking tour start point, your guide will walk with you from your accommodation to the tour start).
– The cost of any public transport (subway, bus) needed DURING the walking tour.
– The opportunity to ask for our expert advice, with ANY questions you might have about Buenos Aires before and after you take the tour, via email.

2. What is NOT included in the price of the tour?

– Our standard tours do not include the cost of any transport FROM the end of the walking tour back to your accommodation, or elsewhere. You can however elect to pay an additional fee at the time of booking to have this included.
– The cost of any food or drink you consume during the walking tour, such as at cafe and lunch breaks (although our guides are of course happy to pay for whatever they consume during the tour).  But again, food and drink in Buenos Aires is relatively cheap, and we would never take you to any places that we’d consider poor value.
– The cost of any entrance fees during the tour (i.e. to enter a museum or other ticketed attraction) are not included, however this is not a common occurrence in most of our tours.
– If you wish to change the tour route, or skip some walking between areas on the tour, the cost of any additional taxi journeys required to enable this is not included.
– If you wish to split a longer tour (say a full day tour) into two shorter tours, over two different days, there is a small additional cost to pay.

3. Where do the tours start?

– Unless you specifically request otherwise, the tours begin with one of our guides (or another representative) meeting you in your hotel lobby (or other accommodation within the city of Buenos Aires) at the agreed start time to accompany you to the start of the walking tour, by taxi, other form of private transport, or if nearby, on foot. The cost of any transport needed for journey is included in the price of the tour.
– If you are staying on a cruise ship, we can meet you in the cruise port terminal, near the information desk (we send full details on confirmation of your tour), again to be accompanied to the start of the walking tour (the cost of any transport needed for this journey is already included in the price of the tour).

4. What happens at the end of the tour?

– At the end of the walking tour, your tour guide can either put you in a taxi back to your hotel (or other destination), or give you directions/advice on where you might want to head next on foot/by subway etc.
– If you prefer, at the time of booking you can pay an additional fee for us to escort you back to your hotel, or elsewhere in the city.

5. What is the policy/price for children taking the tour?

– If you are booking for up to 3 people (including any children), then there is no change in the tour price as we have a minimum base rate for groups of that size
– Children aged 13 and above are always counted fully, the same as adults
– If you are booking for 4 or more people (including any children), then children aged 12 and below will only pay half of any additional tour fee due. If this is the case, please email us before booking with all of the details/ages and we will confirm the rate and provide any discount code needed for you to book your tour.

6. Do you accept other forms/methods of payment apart from full payment online?

– Yes. You can also pay a small deposit online to reserve the tour, followed by the remainder in cash (US Dollars) to your guide at the start of the tour. Or we can arrange for us to call you so that we can charge your credit or debit card over the phone, to pay a deposit or the cost in full (and when doing it like this over the phone, you will avoid paying the 6% fee that the booking service company charges for online bookings)
– Please contact us before booking if you wish to pay by one of the aforementioned alternative methods, however do remember that if we receive another fully-paid booking through our website before we have received some form of payment from you, then that fully-paid for booking would have to take priority. But of course, if we still have availability for you then we’ll do our best to find a way that works for you to book a tour.

7. How many people are typically on your tours?

– We only offer completely private tours, so only the people you book for will be on the tour. If you are alone, it will just be you and your guide. If you are a couple, just the two of you and your guide, and so on. We believe this is the best type of tour, so that it can be personalized to you, go at your own pace, and so that you can have the full attention of your guide for the duration of the tour. To ensure this high quality experience on all tours, the maximum size of groups we usually accept is 11 people (for larger groups, we strongly recommend splitting into smaller groups and booking separate tours).
– If you are a larger group, please feel free to contact us to see what your options are.

8. Do you offer car/bus tours?

– Our main tour offerings are private walking tours (with some public transport), as we believe they offer the best, most authentic sightseeing experience – you will discover Buenos Aires up close and personal, just as a local sees the city.
– That said, if you wish to add hired private transport in addition to your private BuenosTours guide, then let us know and we will happily confirm availability for that and give you a price quote.
– Please note – any private transport service, whether hired for the duration of the tour, part of a tour, or to get to/from the tour, is not provided by BuenosTours. We just arrange private transport with external providers on your behalf. BuenosTours does not accept any liability for such transport taken in this manner – any contract here is between you and the external transport service provider.

9. Can I join another person/group’s tour? Can I do the tour on my own?

– You cannot join another person/group’s tour. We only offer and advertise private tours, and the majority of our clients book with us for this very reason, so we are unable to add additional people to their tours. We also believe that a completely private walking tour is by far the best way to discover a new city (click here to see why).
– However, YES, you can do the tour on your own. Our lowest tour price band is the same cost for one, two or three people, but you can of course pay this amount and do the tour on your own for the most super-personal tour experience imaginable. And ask nicely before booking and we will almost certainly give you a discount!

10. What happens if I book a tour, but then decide to cancel it?

– If you cancel at least 7 full calendar days in advance of your tour start time, or if it can’t take place for uncontrollable reasons (e.g. a very heavy rainstorm or flooding), then there is no cancellation fee (i.e. we refund 100% of the price paid, including any booking fee that was charged).
– If you cancel with more than 1 full calendar day, but less than 7 full calendar days before your tour start time, you will be charged a 20% cancellation fee (of course, this fee can be avoided if you can rearrange your tour instead of canceling it). So, assuming you have paid in full up front, you would be refunded 80% of the tour cost (there would be no refund of any booking fee that was charged).
– If you cancel with 24 hours or less notice before your tour start time (or no show), you will be charged the full cost of your tour – i.e. there would be no refund if you paid in full (again, this fee can be avoided if you can rearrange your tour instead of canceling it).
– An exception to the above (to avoid the zero refund for cancellations with less than 24 hours notice) is for flight and cruise ship delays or cancellations. If your flight or cruise ship arrival is delayed or cancelled and as a result it means you have to cancel your tour, we will charge just the 20% cancellation fee (i.e. 80% refund), but only if you are able to let your tour guide know directly at least one hour before the arranged tour start time (so in the case of an extremely delayed flight or cruise ship schedule, please let your guide know before you start that journey, in case you are unable to communicate during or soon after it).

11. What happens if it rains on the day of the tour?

– If it rains on the day of your tour, and the rain is either fairly light or intermittent, then we will continue with the tour, using umbrellas etc and going inside cafes/buildings if the rain gets heavier, as needed.
– We’ll still have fun, don’t worry!
– That said, in the very unlikely case of a heavy thunderstorm and/or flooding, the tour may need to be cancelled. If so we would try to rearrange it for you, or if not possible, provide a full refund.
– In case of any weather doubts on the day of the tour, please contact your tour guide directly using the cell phone number we will give you in advance.
– Umbrellas are usually available to be borrowed from most hotels. If you can’t get access to an umbrella & it looks like you’ll need one, either contact your guide in advance to ask about bringing a spare, or failing that it will be easy to buy a cheap umbrella during your tour.

12. What happens if I am late for the tour?

– If you are a little late for the tour, then your guide/transport will of course wait for you and continue the tour as normal. Your guide will try to still give you the full tour, however this may not always be possible if they have another tour or personal commitment scheduled after your tour.
– If you are more than half an hour late, then it may not make sense to go ahead with the tour as planned (and also, if private transport has been hired to get you to the tour start, it will almost certainly have been lost if you are this late). Instead we will probably suggest trying to rearrange the tour, or in some cases the only option may be for you to cancel. If the lateness or subsequent cancellation is out of your control then we will look at your situation specifically to see if we can offer any form of partial refund.
– In all cases of lateness (and even in the VERY rare case that it appears your guide or hired transport is late), please call your tour guide as soon as possible to let them know (on the number we will provide you for your guide), especially as they may need to contact any transport and/or other arrangements they have made for you to advise of the delay.

13. How much walking do the tours involve? What is the difficulty level?

– Our half day tours usually involve around 3.5km (2.2 miles) of walking.
– Full day tours usually covers around 7km (4.4 miles) of walking.
– All tours usually include a cafe break and at least one subway or bus ride, and full day tours usually also includes a lunch break, so there is plenty of chance to rest your feet along the way, and break up the walking.
– Of course, as it is a completely private tour, you can go at your own pace, and request to stop whenever needed. You can even catch taxis to reduce walking for parts of the tour if required (although this would be at your own additional cost on the day).
– In summary, difficulty level: as easy as you want it to be!

14. Is it necessary to bring anything to the tours?

– We recommend comfortable shoes, sunscreen if it looks like a sunny day, perhaps water (although we can always stop to buy this along the way), and of course, cash in Argentine Pesos (to pay for any taxis that might be needed during and/or at the end of the tours, and any food/drink you consume in cafe/lunch breaks – plus you’ll probably want to take some US Dollars, and a credit or debit card along as another option to use for payment in cafes and restaurants, or to withdraw extra cash if necessary from ATM’s).

15. Do you offer tours year round?

– Yes, we offer our sightseeing tours 365 days a year, assuming we have guide availability left for you (book in advance to avoid disappointment, especially for high season, from October to early April). We always have very limited availability on December 25th and January 1st,  as not many of our guides will agree to work on those dates, as you can probably understand. There is also a 50% additional fee added for those two holiday dates.

16. Can I schedule a tour at any time of day?

– Yes, more or less, although we recommend that you take our shorter tours starting at around 9.30am or around 2.30pm, and our full day tours at around 9am (or perhaps at 8.30am, if you are extending it by an hour to include La Boca).
– You can request to book a tour from any time starting at 8.30am at the earliest (or sometimes earlier if you really need to and we have a willing guide), and finishing at 8.30pm at the latest (although only recommended during September to April – as during May to August we start to lose the light at around 6pm). If you want a different tour time to those available, please let us know.

17. What languages do you offer tours in?

– At present we only offer tours in English, all given by native English speakers (from the US, Canada and England). Our tour guides of course speak Spanish fluently too, and if you really want then we can also offer tours in Spanish, but please bear in mind that it would be their 2nd or 3rd language.

18. I want to book a horse-riding trip/cookery class/hotel/etc in Buenos Aires, can I do that through you?

– Probably not, but feel free to ask just in case, if you are already booking one of our tours we’ll do our best to help.
– We currently offer private guided walking tours in the city of Buenos Aires, a booking service for wonderful Private Tango Nightlife Tours and also a great Estancia Day Trip, and sometimes we will arrange private transport or car tours for our clients. Most other things we are not in the business of booking/arranging, but you can of course ask for recommendations for other tours/activities etc from our tour booking team and/or your tour guide and we will help as best we can!
