Calle Lanin, Barracas

A more colorful Caminito, without the hordes of tourists

Calle Lanin in Barracas, Buenos Aires

Calle Lanin is a beautiful little street in the barrio of Barracas, in the south of Buenos Aires. If you are going to La Boca [1] to see the colorful and historical Caminito Street [2], then you might also consider taking the time to explore some of the neighboring barrio of Barracas, where you will find the quieter, shady, yet extremely colorful Lanin. (Don’t try this at night, it’s not really a safe place for tourists to be after dark). The murals there, created in the year 2000 by local artist Marino Santa Maria (who actually lives on this street), are definitely worth the trip [3] to take a look.

Being such a colorful street, the best way to give you an idea of what Lanin street is like is with some photos…

Hi! Thank you for uploading these pics. I spent my childhood in Barracas and Avellaneda (now am living in Germany) and it really touches me to see pics from this street.
Last time i visited Buenos Aires didn’t see the Lanin street; next time will pay a visit.
Thanks a lot!

To Alan Patrick
We’ll be in BA Thurs. Feb. 14 and would love to book you for a tour, if possible. We’re staying at the Hotel Etoile in Recoleta. I wish I’d known what great tours you give sooner!

I was curious and now I’m glad to see your nice website and the pictures in it. I live in B.A. but I didn’t know Lanin street. I’m part of a trio that was invited to play at Ingrata Bar the 27th.

Hi Lina! Thanks for your comment. Here at BuenosTours we love calle Lanin too. Such a creative, colorful street! And especially good for photography.

Do you know the name of the cafe? Haven’t tried it out yet.

Take care!
