[...] If you’re willing to ignore the jeers and ridicule the Foursquare check-in will earn you, there’s an actual gem of a pizzeria right Corrientes Av where Guerrin has been making people cry tears of pizza joy for 43 years. Brainchild of Milan immigrant Franco Malvezzi, the pies here are thinner by Argentinian standards, but still pack a punch that will make you double over in satisfied pain after your done licking your fingers. If your brave enough, pour a tall glass of moscato, fight for a table in the back and join the hundreds of people who line the walls of the bare-bones shop each day for a very emotional lunch break. What does this classic establishment have that the dozens of other shops lack? It could be the minimalist interior, or the all-business serving staff. It could be that the pies are closer to the style of our nostalgic pizza dreams than other Buenos Aires fugazza. Or, it could just be that their house pie, teeming with spicy ham, fresh tomato slices, salty olives and cheese so thick it’s actually walking away from the pizza, is really damn good.
We totally agree with you, Alan. Guerrin has to be the best pizza in Buenos Aires. We were only in town for 8 days and still managed to go there 3 times.

We just put up a review talking about Guerrin and El Cuartito -- http://thejetpacker.com/the-best-pizza-in-buenos-aires/

Pizzeria Anglein. Avenida Cordoba y Gorody Cruz is an absolute mecca for pizza in Buenos Aires. Can't believe that none of you have mentioned it. Get out of Centro and into Villa Crespo for some real 'zza.

Hi Fernando,

I've been to Tuñin a fair few times since writing this post, and have to say it is great, probably top 5 material, although I have yet to try their Fugazetta or Española, so perhaps I have been missing out there (and will rectify that soon).

However, it'll have to be pretty damn amazing to beat the Fugazetta at El Cuartito, which right now is probably my favorite single pizza in Buenos Aires.

I need to start writing pizza reviews again!

Best,

Alan

Alan: go to Tuñin and ask for two of the house specialties:

1. Fugazetta
2. Española

Then let me know if it isn't on the top-5 in Buenos Aires

Ok, tried Guerrin, la Mezzeta, and tried Imperio de la pizza.

Imperio won my heart. Didn't like Guerrin that much, nor la Mezzeta.

Y Si, Es Una De Las Mejores, Yo A La Que Mas Concurro. Banchero Tiene Fama, Es Buena Pero Hay Que Comerla En La Central De La Boca, El Palacio Es Buenisima Tambien Y Las Cuartetas Es Buena, Pero La Masa Es Una Piedra, Se Ve Que Su Auge Fue En El 70 Y Le Quedo De Rebote, Aunque No Es Mala. El Cuartito Es Tambien Una De Las Mejores, Pero Es El Centro De La Chetada Recoletosa Que No Se Anima A Probar Otro Tipo De Pizza Como La De Guerrin U Otros, Por Parecer Una Negrada, Y El Imperio De Chacarita Es Sublime Tambien. De Todos Modos Para Un Tour Completo De Pizzerias Tambien Deberian Probar (Aparte De Las Ya Nombradas): Pirilo, Angelin, El Fortin, Burgio, El Ombu, Santa Maria, La Americana, Kentucky, Y Me Estare Olvidando Algunas Mas. En Angelin No Olviden Probar La Pizza Canchera Tambien, Ya Que La Inventaron Ellos Y Para FUGAZZETTA: Las Mejores Las Tienen Pirilo, El Cuartito Y El Ombu. Y No Me Vengan Con Pizza A La Piedra Porque Esa Es Otra Rama, Y No Tiene Ni Comparacion Esa Chotada Con Este Tipo De Pizza Que Es A La Media Masa O A La Masa Entera, Es Como Comparar Carne Con Dulce De Leche, Aca Hay Un Preparado De La Masa, Con Agujeros En La Masa Para Hacerla Liviana, Es Otro Tema, No Me Vengan Con Pizza A La Piedra Ni Con Cadenas De Pizzerias Como "Los Maestros" O "Los Inmortales" O Hasta Romario Que NO Tienen Nada Que Ver, Larga Vida A Las Pizzerias Tradicionales, Nuestras Pizzas, Larga Vida A Guerrin.

Haven't tried Guerrin, but I have been to Las Cuartetas, Banchero, and El Palacio de la Pizza.

I put Las Cuartetas at the end of those three. There's a strange taste that comes with the pizza there that I can't put my finger on, but I don't like so much.

A 'a la molde' at the Palacio is hard to beat for me. However, I ate at their bar last time and it wasn't so good. The last time I had Banchero it was absolutely fantastic. So although the Palacio was tops on that list, I've dropped down its ranking now to second.

I'll go and try Guerrin.
