We took your advice and went to Colonia. It seemed like a great town but we got caught in a horrible storm and had to sit in a bar until our Buquebus came back. Oh well! I hope we get to see more of Uruguay some time, it seemed lovely.

Hey! I'm from the Greater Buenos Aires area in Argentina, and I'm planning on going 3 days to Colonia, as it's a close and cheap destination for us around here, so I think that it's just ideal for people who come from abroad.

I REALLY APPRECIATE your information, as it's very clear and fun-reading

Thanks a lot!

Jorge obviously didn't take your advice and get a scooter. I had a blast and did everything you recommended. There were many places the scooter took me that I wouldn't have been able to get to by foot such as the old coliseum. It really was an amazing place to visit. I loved riding around the abandoned roads. It was amazing to see there international airport as well. Thanks for all the great info.

Planning an extensive trip to Buenos Aires and understand that the tourist visa is for only 90 days and that you can take a quick trip to Colonia del Sacramento in order to get your passport re-stamped.What about if I am travelling with my small dog? Do I also have to take him for the day for re-entry?

When we got off the boat, we were greeted by several companies offering ATV/golf carts for $40/day. What a deal! Totally enjoyed the visit for the day with my wife and twin teens. The cart got us to the beach and so many other areas. Ya, if you're a cheap a.., and just walk into the old town, you'll be done in two hours. Maybe 4 hrs with a nice lunch. Do that, it's like being in French or Spanish town on the Med, and simply wonderful. Take a climb up the lights house, but ride around a bit and enjoy! Don't forget the new one hour time difference and miss your boat back like we (and many others) did! Thanks to your website posting or we wouldn't have made a very nice day trip!
