[19th - 25th February 2007: Express Edition!]
A dear hello to all Buenos Aires blog readers. You are my friends, bless your little cotton socks. But recently I have not been writing you very much, and for this I beg your forgiveness… please give me one more chance! I’ve been a bit snowed under in work and life for a while, but I’m hoping things will change soon, and then normal service will be resumed. Only better. And with added vitamins and minerals. Promise.
But for now, I’m afraid you’re going to have to make do with this weeks’ compact, efficient Buenos Aires blog roundup: express edition:
Buenos Aires Blog Posts of the Week
Short and sweet this week. I just have so little time right now that I think I might have to stop writing now, even if it is in the middle of

Well, amazingly, I made it to ten weeks of this Buenos Aires blog roundup. Quite an achievement for me, because each one involves a hell of a lot of reading, selecting, writing and linking each week. But I enjoy doing it, and it keeps me up to date with a lot of what is going on in Buenos Aires, plus I get to read so many interesting opinions about the city, and often see some absolutely stunning photos of BA.
So, onwards I go, with Buenos Aires blog roundup number 10…
Buenos Aires Blog Posts of the Week
- This week, my favorite posts are all about cool, hip things in Buenos Aires. And they don’t get much cooler than this: look at the new Adidas “I Love Buenos Aires” line – I really want the blue sneakers in the second picture! Thanks to Buenos Aires Spotting for noticing that, and for generally just being far to trendy for their own good…
- I am a big ‘indie’ music fan. Until this week, I thought there was no indie music in Buenos Aires… until Disco Shawn came to the rescue, and pointed out that a (possibly regular) indie night is starting this Friday at Club Niceto. I’m hoping I’ll be able to get to it, if any of my resident stalkers want to know where to find me this week
- Now, what could be cooler than some tips on how to pick up girls in Buenos Aires, I ask? Well, how about some crazy & funny tips from one of the girls herself? OK then, just don’t blame me or Diva when you get slapped five times in one night for trying her advice!

Hello, and welcome to the first Buenos Aires blog roundup of 2007! This week I got back to Argentina from a short Christmas holiday in my native UK, went straight back to my very busy day job to construct an entire new website for our company, moved apartment from Abasto to Recoleta (I guess that could count as ‘going up in the world’…but I liked Abasto), and still even found time to write one proper blog post!
Lets see if I can manage two this week (I already have one quite silly post up my sleeve).
Maybe the rest of the Buenos Aires bloggers have been as busy as me so far in 2007, because there was not so much posting action this week. But oh what quality action it was…
Things To See & Do in Buenos Aires
- Karine has taken some wonderful photos of Cafe Tortoni, the cafe in a city of cafes, and tells us a little bit about the place and its history
- And she’s certainly been covering the tourist staples this week, with some pics and info about Plaza Dorrego, which you can read a lot more about, if you are so inclined, from a post I wrote a while back: Plaza Dorrego, San Telmo
- Isabelle from Argentina’s Travel Blog has obviously been partying it up in BA over Christmas and new year, and why not? – read her reports on Buenos Aires Nightlife and New Year’s Eve in BA
- As I’ve said before, I just can’t wait for Robert’s map of Recoleta cemetery to come out….it’s looking fabulous, I have to say
- And Robert’s also been taking some great pictures of Buenos Aires lit up by night too
- Not Buenos Aires city as usual, but instead Buenos Aires province…I’ve been following Dan’s informative posts on his trip to Mar del Plata this week

Imagine it is your last day ever in Buenos Aires, and you have just 24 hours to see and do all of the things you love in Buenos Aires for the very last time. Makes you think, no?
24 Hours in Buenos Aires
This thought inspired the following blog post, an itinerary for which I would definitely need all 24 hours of the day to pack everything in. I hope at least some of my fellow bloggers in Buenos Aires will read this and be able to weigh in with their own post about their perfect day in BA.
Please read on for mine…

Avenida Santa Fe 1826 (near corner with Av. Callao), Recoleta

The best Ice Cream / Helado / Gelato in Buenos Aires?
Out of all the ice cream parlors I have tried in Buenos Aires, Un Altra Volta in Recoleta is certainly the best quality so far. And this is in a city where the ice cream is some of the best in the world, due to the heavy Italian influence here.
Perhaps these sentences and the mouthwatering picture above are enough for you to decide to visit Un Altra Volta for a scoop or two of icy heaven. You won’t regret it. But if you enjoy a little background info and my verbose ramblings, by all means read on!
